On the afternoon of August 23, 2010, Chairman Li Yongping held a technological seminar at meeting room of KFCC’s At the beginning of the seminar, Chairman Li gave high praise to the excellent work of technological departments, and Yang Yaofeng, chief of Department of CPC and Mass Work, readout the decision that Jia Qingyuan be appointed as director of R&D Center and Lou Weijiang as d director. The promotion decision showed that the company attached a lot importance to technological work, which was a great inspiration to the technological personnel; while they also kept their responsibility in mind that they had to keep improving technology to provide technological support for optimization of the company. During the seminar, chiefs of Departments of Technology, Quality Assurance and R&D center firstly reported their current work and main problems they had met, and then they discussed to find solutions. After all the discussion, Chairman Li made a statement about the present situation of technological and quality management in the company. He said that in order to change the traditional extensive development mode through enlarging production scale and go on an intensive development mode through upgrading technology, the three technological departments should cooperate closely and form a circular cooperative relationship. In the circle, R&D Center is responsible for finding out the main problems and causes that influenced quality of products and constrained development of the company; and Department of Technology should make out improved plan and put into mass production; while quality assurance is charged with the mission to supervise the practice of the improved plan, check feasibility of the plan, and timely provide quality report to Department of Technology and R&D Center to supply further improved plan with quantitative support. In the end, Chairman Li put forward the tenets, objectives as well as working priorities and responsibilities of R & D center. He pointed out that the tenets and objectives of R & D centers are as follow. (a) Be able to solve technical problems in production, catch up with domestic and foreign industrial advanced technology, carry out horizontal cooperation and master first-class carbon production process technologies. (b) Provide technical support, personnel training and personnel reserve for the establishment of a "domestic first class, world-renowned" carbon company. (c) Utilize production and quality assurance as two platforms to attract highly qualified technical personnel and form a strong R & D team and to realize transformation and upgrading of the company; (4) Become a national-level R & D center of graphite materials within five years which is influential both at home and abroad. Meanwhile, he pointed out that the present main tasks of R & D Center are the following. (a) Focus on production to improve products’ quality and reduce energy consumption; (b) Focus on improvement to introduce talent and technology (c) Focus on scientific research to promote joint and cooperation and increase R & D capability and industrial influence. He stressed that the technical departments and personnel should do basic researches and applied researches simultaneously, solve both problems in current production and long-term development constraints at the same time; moreover, they should vigorously carry out cooperation not only between internal departments but also with external institutions and research agencies to strengthen the R & D capability of the company.
