Wiesbaden, February 3, 2011. SGL Group announced a Graphite Electrode price increase. It was said in the announcement that with global steel demand continuing to increase, the number of orders is approaching budgeted operating levels. Because of current input cost rising and further increasing trend, the company decided that all new orders would increase from current contracted prices. The following was specific information.
In Europe, graphite electrodes of all sizes would increase from current contracted prices by 300 €/mt; in Americas, Asia (excluding China*), Near Middle East and Africa, graphite electrodes of all sizes would increase from current contracted prices by 500 US-$/mt (0.23 US-$/lb); while the pricing in China remained the sole responsibility of the joint venture between the SGL Group and Tokai in Shanghai (STS).
It is also noted in the announcement that the new prices would be applicable with immediate effect and until further notice for all new orders and shipments through December 31, 2011.
